What is the purpose for the Data Warehouse Committee?
The general purpose is to find a program that will consolidate our data from various sources in a clean, accurate, and timely manner.

Here is a list of 5 possible programs. I compiled this list simply by calling various educators and asking questions. If you know of other programs that we should take a look at, please let me know.
  • Tetra Data by Follett
  • Performance Pathways
  • Comprehensive Data Analysis (CDA) from IU 3 - this is the program that IU 15 supports
  • On Hands Learning
  • 4sight has a program within it....i don't know much about it
Let's begin by each of us taking a few moments to think about the possibilities/questions a warehouse will bring. If you don't mind, I'd like to use a WIKI so that we can all update the document without one person needing to put all the responses together.
If we had a data warehouse program, how...
If we had a data warehouse program, what...
If we had a data warehouse program we could...
could it help improve student learning?
current data programs that we have would it not be able to pull from?
put all our data in one place
would it interface w/our existing system(s)?
data do we want it to contain..report card grades, pssa performance levels, aimsweb, study island, DRA's, quarterly benchmark assessments, ..?
provide the ability for teachers & administrators to access real-time data on every student.
often is data updated or is it real-time data?
professional development is needed and is it included with the purchase of the program?
use data to inform our decisions regarding instructional programming

type of data analysis options comes with it?
Assist psychologists with data for Child Study meetings and Evaluation Reports

technical support is provided and when?
Assist with data needed for grants, awards, etc.

is the district and/or per pupil cost

What level of security does the system have?

Craig Smith - Follett Software Company - TetraData Analysis Solutions
  • March 16, 2009 at 2:30 in DO board room
  • Tetra charges us less (approx. $10 per student per year) if we allow them to host data warehouse (Texas) - b/c customer support is easier for them when they host
  • Other savings for us if tetra hosts, we don't have to purchase equipment/server/hard drive space,.we would not have to back up data.. plus tetra's IT dept can handle many of issues from host site saving our tech guys from doing work
  • tetra data system would communicate with our various systems: CSIU, Study Island, AimsWeb, PVASS, SIS and whatever other programs we want it to pull information from
  • We can pre program varied upload schedules for various data sets-for example-our SIS would be updated nightly while our students pssa scores would be updated in the summer each year and then fall for gr. 12 retakes, etc...
  • Dashboard Product - query options are preset -for teacher use
  • Analyzer Product - allows you to create own query and offers more in depth data -for administration use
  • Dashboard and Analyzer products are now offered together
  • TetraData does all project management, set-up, professional development (multiple sessions)
  • If we were to decide to go with tetra data the estimated time to set-up system, train staff, etc.. is 3-6 months
